We are asked to remember events which we did not witness. Although we were not “there,” we are asked to remember because we are changed by those moments. In the darkness He was changing everyone of us.
The Answer was questioned.
The Faithful One was betrayed.
The Almighty surrendered and became helpless.
The Beloved was hated.
The Master served.
The Lord submitted.
The Liberator was captured and chained.
The Truth was falsely accused.
The Voice was silent.
The Holy One was mocked.
The Loyal One was denied.
The Deliverer was delivered.
The Lover was reviled, condemned and rejected.
The Rock was beaten and broken.
The Unending Supply of Living Water was poured out.
The Eternal was pinned to a tree.
The Son was forsaken by the Father.
The Life was murdered.
“And there was evening and there was morning. . . and there was evening and there was morning. . . and there was evening and there was morning, the third day.”
Wait for it.

From the old hymn, “Were you there when they nailed Him to the cross?” After reading this, “yes, we are there”. Even so, we can not imagine the pain and horror. Then came Sunday. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift. II Corinthians 9:15. We are set free.
